Dilemma!

Mme Stina should better read her messages she wrote earlier on her blog. Just to check how often she writes about her failures and flops. Perhaps you're all start to think: "hey, that Mme Stina, can she knit at all?"
Well, sometimes she has her doubts.

Hè, maar wacht eens even.

Like now. Simple job: knit a red scarf: long and stylish.
Ok, seams a piece of cake.
Step 1: go to the yarn shop and buy some red yarn. Hey, hold on. Look what Mme Stina finds in her cupboard: beautiful baby alpaca of Sol Alpaca, brought from Peru by her sister in law. Plenty of skeins. More stylish yarn is hard to find (80% baby alpaca and 20% silk). You could admire the first results a couple of weeks ago. Just look at the last photos: http://mmestina.blogspot.be/2012/11/ditjes-en-datjes-all-kind-of-things.html.

Dus stap 2: uiteinden breien.

The scarf seems to be a bit too short. No problem: a dark burgundy wool could be used for 2 beautiful ends. Knitted in another lace pattern. The ideal job for Mme Stina.
So step 2: knit the ends
Immediately followed by step 3: fasten the ends to the scarf. Mission completed!

That was last friday evening. But what happened when Mme Stina raised the scarf? The dark burgundy yarn was merino. And a lot heavier than baby alpaca. Result: it seemed a bit like wearing a rope with 2 buckets at the end of it. OK, that's overdone. But even a bit true.

And it is there that Mme Stina's dilemma starts. Leave it like this? Isn't Mme Stina overdoing it a bit? With her never ending aim for perfection? Use another type of yarn perhaps? A good night sleep gives the answer: the yarn shop has sold a skein of mohair and after 2 days weekend, this scarf has 2 feather light ends:

vederlicht resultaat - feather light alternative
Ook mooi, maar te zwaar. Also very pretty,
but to heavy

1 opmerking:

  1. ach ja, zo gaat dat he?
